I make the effort to create art because it keeps me at ease with myself. If there is nothing else I could possibly do in a day, I will always have a pencil and some paper. I can get whatever I am thinking out on the paper, and it relaxes me. It stops my brain from becoming overwhelmed. The colors I use in my pieces are similar to each other, which relate my art together, sometimes unintentionally. I use mainly acrylic paint because it lets me get my idea out quicker. It dries fast, and it is easy to paint over if I mess up or change my mind. I begin a piece by figuring out what would be the best way to execute my idea. I usually give myself a little bit of time for this by creating little thumbnail sketches of them in my sketchbook. I create art because I enjoy it. When my work is going well, I am filled with excitement. I am excited to get to as close to finished as I can and I am excited to see what I need to fix. I know a piece is done when I am satisfied. When I look at it I am happy with a hint of pride. When people see my work, I want them to understand why I did what I did. I want them to appreciate my brushstrokes and my use of color. I want them to understand why a figure looks this way. I want them to understand the overall idea of my work.
